Sustainability in Action - Winserve Care's Environmental Initiatives
In today’s fast-changing world, at Winserve Care, we recognise our responsibility to provide great care services whilst helping our local community. We want to use less energy and be kinder to the environment, as it is important to make sure we are delivering value for those we care for and everyone around us. In 2024, here’s what we will do to make health and social care more eco-friendly.
Fuel Efficient Vehicles
We’re proud to unveil our brand-new automatic vehicles. These vehicles ensure a smoother ride for our staff whilst cutting down harmful emissions. By using automatic vehicles, we're helping the environment by lowering pollutions. It’s a big move to shrink our carbon footprint, with better gas mileage and less pollution. As we start using these eco-friendly cars, we’re moving toward a cleaner future for everyone.
Cutting Less Trees
Instead of relying on paper, we use digital systems to make our service delivery much easier. This means we are using less paper across the organisation. Our scheduling system allows us to automatically set calls times, includes electronic documents, and cuts down the need for paper records.
We’ve switched all our office devices to be touch-screen, making it easier to access important information without using paper. When we do need to use paper, we print as little as possible. Any extra paper is shredded and recycled every day. These changes help us reduce our environmental impact and stay committed to sustainability.
Reducing Carbon Footprint
As part of their mandatory training, our team are taught about the importance of environmentally sustainable services. This includes encouragement to use less paper, switching off lights, and understanding how to recycle correctly. By training staff to be mindful of their environmental impact, we’re working together to make a positive difference to our community.
When planning calls, we account for service users who live in the same areas. So instead of sending our staff zigzagging across town, we group our calls together. This way, our carers can spend more time with our service users, less driving time on the road, and sending out fewer emissions from our vehicles.
Our Environmental Initiative Summary
By choosing eco-friendly ways in how we work, we’re looking out for the health of our services users and our team. Even though we are still learning and growing, we will keep coming up with new ideas and make sure to use practices that are good for the environment. We want to help make our community and the planet a healthier and greener place for everyone.
